Legal Services of Northern Virginia, Inc., Names New Executive Director
Virginia Attorney James Ferguson to Lead Regional Legal Aid Organization
Falls Church, VA—James Ferguson of Falls Church was recently named to serve as the Executive Director of Legal Services of Northern Virginia, Inc. LSNV is a nonprofit organization which
provides free legal assistance in civil cases to individuals who are low income, elderly, children, mentally or physically disabled, or affected by HIV/AIDS. LSNV assists clients in the Northern
Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William, and in the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park. The organization’s mission is to
provide high-quality legal assistance to families and individuals who face the loss or deprivation of a critical human need, such as food, shelter, income, medical care, education, family stability,
or personal safety.
Ferguson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He most recently served as the director
of the National Crime Victim Bar Association (NCVBA), a nationwide network of attorneys who represent crime victims in civil actions. The NCVBA is an affiliate of the National Center for
Victims of Crime, the leading resource and advocacy organization for crime victims, and Ferguson also served as a senior director of that organization. He previously was a trial lawyer in private
practice in Washington, DC and worked as a staff attorney in a pro bono legal clinic in Miami, Florida.
LSNV celebrated its 25th Anniversary last November. “It is an honor to be able to work with an organization that has such an impressive track record of doing such good and important work.
There is still a tremendous need out there, and I look forward to working with LSNV as we continue to provide high-quality legal services to clients throughout Northern Virginia.”
Ferguson is replacing long-serving executive director Charles Greenfield, who left LSNV to become the Executive Director for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii.
